The Contender Series is currently the biggest platform for Dana White to bring new talent to the UFC. And it has yielded incredible results! There have even been champions from this event.

In its eighth season, several impressive names have emerged and Brazil, as expected, has provided a few more fighters to keep an eye on. These are the Brazilian athletes signed to Dana White’s Contender Series in 2024. Highlighted are the fighters I believe have great potential within the UFC.

MARCO TÚLIO | Middleweight

Cartel: 12-1. 30 Years Old, 1.85m.

Chute Boxe Diego Lima in the area! A very strong athlete with very heavy punches! I’m sure he’ll make some victims in the UFC. He has that characteristic Chute Boxe style of going all out! A beast on the feet, but if the fight goes to the ground, he has the tools to trouble his opponent.

DJORDEN SANTOS | Middleweight

Cartel: 10 – 1. 27 Years, 1.83m.

Santos had an impeccable performance in the Contender. He showed very good takedown defense and aligned boxing, the kind that hurts little by little. He’s got a good fight IQ and he’s still got a long way to go.

NICOLLE CALIARI | Flyweight

Cartel: 8-2. 27 Years, 1,60m.

Her specialty is stand-up fighting, but what really surprised me was that she was able to finish an athlete who was a beast on the ground with extreme ease. Caliari is ready to shake up the division. She’s already scheduled to fight in January 2025 and has every chance of winning.

ALEXIA TEIXEIRA | Strawweight

Cartel: 11-1. 26 Years, 1,63m.

Not only did she show skill in standing and ground fighting, but I was also impressed by the loose and cheerful way she was fighting. Completely comfortable inside the octagon!

Other Brazilians hired

In addition to the fighters already mentioned, three other new athletes have been signed: two in the middleweight category and one in the heavyweight category.

However, due to their performances, they didn’t inspire my confidence. More details about their performances can be found in the review of the episodes in which they took part.

They were all very good.

  • Bruno Lopes – hired on Week 1;
  • Tallison Teixeira – hired on Week 6;
  • Kevin Christian – hired in Week 7.
