➡️ Analysis and Bout UFC 307: Pereira vs Rountree Jr.

Court McGee x Tim Means
Bet: McGee wins
Result: McGee wins by FINISH
Means himself went for the clinch and it turned out to be his undoing. After a good sequence of blows, McGee managed to take Means down and land a rear naked choke with some ease. And there Means stayed, all in the first round.
Carla Esparza vs Tecia Pennington
Bet: Pennington wins
Result: Pennington wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
A boring fight that fortunately resulted in Carla Esparza’s retirement. Halfway through the first round, Pennington was containing the takedowns and landing good punches, until she was finally taken down, and stayed there for the rest of the round. From the second round onwards, Pennington grew into the fight, landing good leg kicks on Esparza and was only taken down at the end of the round. In the third round, Esparza was very tired and continued to take a lot of leg kicks. In the end, a unanimous decision for Tecia Pennington.
Ryan Spann vs. Ovince St. Preux
Bet: Spann wins
Result: Spann wins by NOCAUTE
When Ryan Spann shows up to fight with all his heart and soul, he’s a different kind of fighter. Right in the first round, he hit St. Preux with powerful blows to the face, and when the athlete got dizzy, Spann stuck to him, slotted in a guillotine very quickly, leaving his opponent no room to do anything apart from slapping him three times.
César Almeida x Ihor Potieria
Bet: Almeida wins
Result: Almeida wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
A good performance from the Brazilian! He improved his takedown defense a lot, and on the feet he was on top. The surprise came in the second round, when in the middle of a grappling match, Cesinha slipped a guillotine and Potieria almost tapped, but ended up resisting. In the third round, without any sense of urgency, the Ukrainian just tried to stop the fight, not least because he was so tired. In the end, Cesar Almeida took a comfortable victory.
Austin Hubbard vs Alexander Hernandez
Bet: Hubbard wins
Result: Hernandez wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
I saw Hubbard win, but you can’t say it was a robbery. Austin didn’t get ANY takedowns throughout the fight. And he tried at least eight times, to the credit of Hernandez, who won round 1 comfortably, but slowed down in the following rounds. Round 2 saw a similar number of punches landed by both athletes. In round 3 there was more of a straight exchange, and Hubbard landed more punches. In the end, the split decision went to Hernandez…
Marina Rodriguez x Iasmin Lucindo
Bet: Lucindo wins
Result: Lucindo wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
I confess I didn’t understand the “split” decision. As dangerous as Rodriguez is on the feet, she has the same takedown defense as a house of cards. One blow and she’s on her back on the ground. Iasmin took her down in EVERY round, getting a good amount of time in control. An excellent victory for the young Brazilian athlete!
Stephen Thompson vs. Joaquin Buckley
Bet: Buckley win
Result: Buckley win by NOCAUTE
An athlete over 40 against an explosive and much younger athlete. Logic prevailed. And Thompson put up quite a fight. Buckley managed to get takedowns in the first round, and in the second round he had a lot of control and applied very strong blows. So much so that in the third, the fight was going at the same pace, until Buckley landed a bomb that sent Thompson to the ground, and he landed one more while he was at it.
Ketlen Vieira x Kayla Harrison
Bet: Harrison wins
Result: Harrison wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
Harrison is a force of nature! Vieira had no answers to the many questions the American brought. The Brazilian even landed some good blows, managing to draw blood from Harrison, but lacked a sense of urgency. And Harrison’s takedowns made the difference too. In the end, victory for the American.
Roman Dolidze vs Kevin Holland
Bet: Dolidze wins
Result: Dolidze wins by NOCAUTE
Holland was injured when the fight went to the ground. But the way Dolidze had taken him down and was landing great shots, even if it went to a judges’ decision, I don’t think the result would have been much different. Still in the first round, after Dolidze was in control on top, he hit the American in the face. When the round ended, Holland went to his corner complaining a lot of pain on the right side of his body. The pain was so severe that he was unable to return.
José Aldo vs Mario Bautista
Bet: Aldo wins
Result: Bautista wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
Bautista came well prepared for the king of Rio. An ugly strategy with little appeal to the public, but an effective one. He wanted to take the Brazilian down, but Aldo’s defense was excellent. In boxing, the fight was even, with Bautista controlling the difference in the fight. He took Aldo to the fence and stayed there. The referee told him to break it up, the fight restarted and the American did the same thing. Is it pretty? Of course not, but the Brazilian didn’t have any answers to that game either.
Raquel Pennington vs Julianna Peña
Bet: Pennington wins
Result: Peña wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
The problem is that Raquel Pennington only really got into the fight in the last two rounds. In the first, the fight was only on the feet and Julianna landed more punches. In rounds 2 and 3, Julianna was able to take down, control and even try to finish. Then, in the final two rounds, when the fight was already lost, Pennington was more aggressive and even managed to knock Peña down, but in the end, it wasn’t enough. And we have a new champion… If all goes well, it won’t be for long!
Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Roundtree Jr.
Bet: Pereira wins
Result: Pereira wins by NOCAUTE
It was much harder than expected! Roundtree came out very focused and his powerful punches were making the difference in the early rounds. Poatan even had a flashdown in the second round, but his chin proved very resilient. In round 3, Roundtree began to show fatigue, while Poatan grew. The Brazilian landed dangerous blows to the American’s face, and he began to cool down. And in the fourth round, Poatan was comfortable, hitting his opponent hard in the face and body, and he couldn’t take it anymore. A great fight!
