UFC 310: Pantoja vs. Asakura marks the third defense of Brazilian Alexandre Pantoja’s flyweight belt in a match scheduled for December 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The champion faces Japanese challenger Kai Asakura, who comes to the UFC on a two-fight winning streak and is looking to become the first Asian to win the title in the category.

Palpites UFC 310: Pantoja x Asakura

Kennedy Nzechukwu vs Lucas Brzeski

Bet: Nzechukwu wins

Analysis: Kennedy made a good debut at heavyweight. He was strong but kept his agility and knockout power. On the other hand, Lucas should move down a category because his physique doesn’t match up with this category, especially since he doesn’t have the agility or seem to have much strength, and in his five UFC fights he’s 1-4 and has been knocked out twice already. You can put the third one on the bill.

Clay Guida vs Chase Hooper

Bet: Hooper wins

Analysis: Guida has been in the UFC for about 200 years and even at the age of 42, he has shown resilience: he’s coming off two decision defeats. Hooper, on the other hand, is showing incredible progress every time he steps into the octagon. They’re almost 20 years apart and Hooper has a height and wingspan advantage. Want another indication? They had a grappling match less than two years ago and Chase finished him in the first round. And as I mentioned before, Chase has only gotten better since then… do the math and be happy!

Michael Chiesa vs Max Griffin

Bet: Griffin wins
Low confidence

Analysis: First I’d like to say that this fight is the perfect time to get up and have a snack. Chiesa is very good at jiu-jitsu and has never knocked anyone out. Griffin, even at 38, has only been knocked out once in 2016 and has never been finished. He prefers to fight standing up, but he hasn’t knocked anyone out in a while. I think it will be an even fight, but as I see it going the distance, Max has a better chance of winning, as he’s a decision machine.

Cody Durden vs Joshua Van

Bet: Durden wins

Analysis: I’ve been thinking about this fight for a while. It will depend on who can impose their game first. Durden will need takedowns and control, because on the feet he has a disadvantage against Joshua’s boxing. Cody has a slight height and wingspan advantage. He just needs to watch his approach. There’s a ten-year age difference, but in this case, Durden at 33 has more experience than Van, who at 23 still has a lot of developing to do.

Chris Weidman vs. Eryk Anders

Bet: Anders wins

Analysis: It has all the ingredients to be a boring fight. Weidman, at the age of 40 after returning from that serious injury, has put in some terrible performances. In the last round, he only won because he fingered Armored Bruno in BOTH EYES. Not that Anders is an A-class athlete, but he’s very tough and will show more strength and energy than Weidman.

Randy Brown x Bryan Battle

Bet: Battle win

Analysis: Brown is on a three-fight winning streak, but don’t be alarmed: he’s beaten a 38-year-old, a 40-year-old and Wellington Turman, who shouldn’t even be in the UFC. There’s a good height advantage in his favor. But Battle, as his surname suggests, enters the octagon to deliver a battle. He has a lot of confidence and can perform well inside the octagon. Bryan is also constantly evolving and is dangerous both on his feet and on the ground. I wouldn’t doubt a knockout or finish in this fight.

Movsar Evloev vs Aljamain Sterling

Bet: Evloev wins

Analysis: Two fighters who don’t excite, but who are effective in their game. In fact, they are very similar in every respect. Perhaps Evloev has slightly better boxing than Sterling. They’re both going to invest a lot in the striking game and the result will depend on who manages to get the most takedowns. It’s bound to be a boring fight. Good thing it’s only three rounds. In terms of skill, Movsar has more weapons to win.

Vicente Luque x Themba Gorimbo

Bet: Gorimbo win

Analysis: Gorimbo is in a good phase with four wins in a row. He’s got knockout power, but he’s not ashamed if he just has to squeeze his opponent on the fence for fifteen minutes. And he has the strength to do it. The Brazilian, unfortunately, after the brain hemorrhage he had in 2022, seems to enter the octagon afraid, which has been bad for him, looking like he’s stuck. I don’t think it will be much different here.

Dominick Reyes vs Anthony Smith

Bet: Reyes wins

Analysis: Reyes came back very well after a two-year break and four straight defeats, scoring a knockout in June. Smith is already slowing down, even though he’s only 36, he’s already taken a lot of damage and it’s apparently hurting his performances. We still have to see how Dominick’s stamina is, but overall, if he doesn’t mess up at the start of the fight, he has a better chance of beating Smith.

Nate Landwehr x Dooho Choi

Bet: Landwehr wins

Analysis: The Korean athlete was hampered by compulsory military service and lost two years of his career. On his return, he got a good win, but it was against an average athlete. Now he’s up against the Landwehr “Train”, which has been running over anyone who stands still. Nate has great knockout power and is dangerous on the ground too. Even if it goes to a decision, he’ll have more volume than Choi.

Bryce Mitchell vs. Kron Gracie

Bet: Mitchell win
Low confidence

Analysis: How this fight is on the main card, I wouldn’t know, but come on… Gracie hasn’t fought for over a year and his last performance was pitiful. Mitchell has a lot more experience than Kron, but his main weapons involve takedowns and ground fighting. If he wants to stick to the ground with Gracie, he could be in trouble… maybe he should balance it out with some standing strikes and occasional takedowns. Kron doesn’t box well either, so he’ll be balanced on the feet.

Cyril Gane vs Alexander Volkov

Bet: Volkov wins

Analysis: At this point in the championship, everyone knows that Gane has an aversion to fighting on the ground and I doubt very much that he has trained in this area, even though he hasn’t fought for over a year. If Volkov manages to take advantage of his height advantage and invests in takedowns and control, he’ll have a big advantage. I dare say that every time Gane falls, he won’t get up very easily.

Shavkat Rakhmonov vs Ian Machado Garry

Bet: Garry wins

Analysis: If there were only 3 rounds, I’d go for Shavkat, but with 5, I see Garry with more chances. From what we’ve seen of the last few fights, the Irishman/Brazilian’s striking game is very good and he’ll be able to steal some points in the rounds. Shavkat has a very dangerous start, but I find it very difficult to maintain the same consistency for 5 rounds. Garry has good stamina and I don’t think he’ll be knocked out or finished. And in the judges’ decision, Ian has a better chance.

Alexandre Pantoja x Kai Asakura

Bet: Pantoja wins

Analysis: Asakura was the champion of Rizin, a Japanese event, but it wasn’t even in the same Flyweight category and he faced average competition, nothing on the level of the UFC. Now, right away, he’ll be competing for the belt against Pantoja, who’s on a great streak. On the feet, Pantoja likes to throw down, but his advantage comes from his refined jiu-jitsu. It will be the easiest path to victory here. And he’d do well to get a finish or knockout to impress his boss. In the Japanese fighter’s favor, there’s a height advantage for him… good luck with that.
