UFC 313 Predictions: Pereira vs. Ankalaev

Chris Gutierrez vs John Castaneda

Bet: Gutierrez wins

Analysis: Castaneda was going to fight last week, but his opponent had problems with the weight cut. Now he has a new opponent and… it’s complicated for him. Chris Gutierrez is a very consistent fighter, good on the ground and on his feet, very agile. I don’t see any chances for Castaneda to win, unless Chris has a problem.

Djorden Santos vs Ozzy Diaz

Bet: Santos win

Analysis: I don’t like either fighter, but in the big picture Djorden at least has gas for all the rounds and can still knock him out. In Diaz’s three losses he was knocked out and despite having a two-meter wingspan, he likes to go for the fight, all or nothing. Djorden has a more measured game and should weather the initial storm.

Mairon Santos vs Francis Marshall

Bet: Santos wins

Analysis: In his last performance, the Brazilian was 10/10. He defended his takedowns and obliterated his opponent. Marshall comes from a split decision victory and even though he has more time in the UFC, he hasn’t faced very high competition. Let’s give the Brazilian a vote of confidence. And I wouldn’t doubt a knockout.

Alex Morono x Carlos Leal

Bet: Leal wins

Analysis: Morono has a lot of fights in the UFC, he’s a very experienced guy, even at 34. The problem is that according to his latest performances, he no longer has that desire to win. Low volume of blows, little creativity. Not that Leal is from another world, because from what we’ve seen so far he’s average. But I believe that this time, he has more tools and will to win.

Bruno Ferreira x Armen Petrosyan

Bet: Petrosyan wins

Analysis: Bruno puts a lot of force into each blow, which at the start of the fight is great for him, because if a bomb hits, it sends his opponent into space. However, he tends to tire a lot if the fight drags on. Petrosyan is a top-level striker and is much taller than the Brazilian. The detail is that Armen is coming off two defeats, one by submission and the other by knockout. If Bruno can mix in a bit of wrestling, he could have a good chance. He just has to be VERY CAREFUL IN THE CLOSE.

Joshua Van vs Rei Tsuruya

Bet: Van wins

Analysis: The Japanese is very young and is 11-0. From what I saw in his last fight, he invests a lot in wrestling to take the fight to the ground, but he doesn’t have good control. On the feet, Van is superior and if he can avoid the takedowns or at least get up quickly, he has everything to win.

Curtis Blaydes vs. Rizvan Kuniev

Bet: Blaydes wins
*I had already analyzed this fight last month. The fight has changed date, but I won’t change a comma:

Analysis: It seems to me that they’re trying to speed up the Russian, but I think they’re taking
a step too far. Blaydes has been knocked out 5 times, but he’s not dead. And he himself has the strength to knock out and a high level of wrestling. I’m going to believe in experience, since Rizvan has never fought someone of the same level as Curtis.

King Green x Mauricio Ruffy

Bet: Ruffy wins

Analysis: With Green’s provocative style, walking forward and with his hands well down, the recipe for disaster is ready. Even more so against a Fighting Nerds athlete. Ruffy has a distinctive strike as well as good defense on his feet. Green would have wrestling in his favor, but it’s been a long time since he’s used this technique. Everything points to a knockout for the Brazilian.

Amanda Lemos x Iasmin Lucindo

Bet: Lucindo wins

Analysis: Amanda Lemos is a good athlete and this will be the biggest challenge of Lucindo’s career. Even so, I’m on the side of youth. In recent performances, Lemos has had a lot of difficulty with athletes who invest in wrestling. She was taken down several times against Zhang and Jandiroba. Iasmin doesn’t yet have the level of those two, but she has enough skills to beat the almost 38-year-old Amanda.

Jalin Turner vs Ignacio Bahamondes

Bet: Bahamondes wins

Analysis: It’s likely to be an even fight, but Bahamondes’ phase is better. They have the same wingspan of over 1.90m and prefer to fight standing up. The thing is, Bahamondes has the advantage of taking the fight to the ground, should he want to or need to. Turner has already been knocked out four times, which isn’t very good either.

Justin Gaethje vs. Rafael Fiziev

Bet: Fiziev wins

Analysis: They already fought in 2023, with a narrow victory for Gaethje. Now, Fiziev has been out of action for almost a year and a half due to injury, while Justin stopped for almost a year after that brutal knockout he suffered against Max Holloway. It should be a brutal three rounds on the feet. Neither of them is running away from the fight, quite the opposite. Maybe it’s in the detail, but it seems to me that Fiziev comes into this fight more whole.

Alex Pereira vs Magomed Ankalaev

Bet: Pereira wins

Analysis: CHAMA again! It can’t be otherwise. The phase is great and the advanced striking technique has been blowing away everyone who stands in front of Alex Pereira. Ankalaev would have to be able to take the fight to the ground, but for that, he’ll have to get in close… good luck. I’d say there’s a good chance of another knockout for the Brazilian. For the Russian to win, it would have to involve a lot of wrestling and patience… but I’m hoping it doesn’t work out!
