Check out the predictions and analysis for all the fights on the card below. The predictions take into account the fighters’ current form, performance history and fighting styles.
Alibi Idiris x Joseph Morales
Bet: Idiris win
Analysis: I didn’t follow the last season of TUF. I took into account the athletes’ history before that program. Alibi is undefeated, very fast and good in any area where the fight takes place. Morales has more experience, he’s even been in the UFC, but even for his physical size, compared to his opponent, I don’t think he’s going to give Alibi too many problems.
Karine Silva x Dione Barbosa
Bet: Silva wins
Analysis: Karine has two very strong motivations for this fight: Dione already beat her, years ago and I bet Karine herself is not satisfied with the performance she had against Viviane Araújo. With the reinforcement of her training with Fighting Nerds, I’m confident that if she manages her gas well, not dropping bombs with every blow, she has a good chance of winning. But Dione is no fool. The problem is that she accepted such a dangerous fight with less than a month’s notice. Now, if she wins, she’ll be a giant.
Bryan Battle vs Nursulton Ruziboev
Battle’s win
Analysis: Like his surname, Bryan is a guy I trust because he always goes into battle ready. Now, he’s moving up a category because of his difficulty making weight. The question is how he’ll perform when he’s hit harder. Ruziboev is a good fighter, but in the UFC he was putting on a show against weak athletes. When he got Buckley, he lost. I think that if Battle takes it easy, tiring Nursulton out and fighting intelligently, he could find a good win.
Edson Barboza vs Drakkar Klose
Barboza’s win
Analysis: Match between two fighters in a similar phase, already heading towards their 40s. Barboza has good takedown defense and is better on the feet than Klose. I think Drakkar might even try to invest in wrestling, but I see the Brazilian with a better chance of winning this fight between veterans.
Chase Hooper vs Alexander Hernandez
Bet: Hooper wins
Analysis: Hernandez has been fighting well, has two wins in a row and is a guy who never gives up. However, Hooper is on a roll and is getting better all the time. He’s evolving in his stand-up and ground fighting, he’s an ace. For Hernandez to win, he’d have to be able to take Hooper by surprise, but I don’t see Alexander having the strength to find a takedown like that.
Jessica Andrade x Loopy Godínez
Better guess: Godínez wins
Analysis: Jéssica seemed to be getting back on track, but now she has suffered two defeats in a row. Her takedown defense isn’t the best and if Godinez comes in focused, fully investing in wrestling, she has a good chance of winning.
Gerald Meerschaert x Michal Oleksiejczuk
Bet: Oleksiejczuk wins
Analysis: Now we’ll see for sure if the training at Fighting Nerds pays off. Michal is a born knockout artist, but his weakness is ground fighting, and he’s been finished several times. Gerald, on the other hand, is very weak on his feet but his specialty is his ground game. The Pole needs to keep the fight on the feet and find Meeschaert’s chin as soon as possible. And given his knockout power and what he showed in his last performance, I believe he has enough weapons to win.
King Green x Diego Ferreira
Better guess: Ferreira wins
Analysis: King Green is like that: he provokes a lot, throws blows out of nowhere, but fights with his hands down, trying to call out his opponent. But the Brazilian has shown a very heavy hand in his last few performances, even at the age of 40. With a little intelligence, I see the Brazilian finding a knockout against the American.
Tim Elliott vs Kai Asakura
Bet: Asakura wins
Analysis: Asakura didn’t manage to take the belt off Pantoja, but now they’ve found someone more beatable for him. Elliott is an employee of the house, but it’s a win-lose situation. He’s not a specialist in any area, but he’s not a dead fly in any either. Asakura is a guy who always puts on a show and has very dangerous knees. I think he’ll catch Elliott with one of those dangerous blows.
Jared Cannonier vs Michael Page
Better guess: Page wins
Analysis: Cannonier fights well at 41, the guy is a specimen of nature. However, Page’s speed and complex style should make the difference. I don’t see Jared being able to stop Michael in the clinch. And in the clinch, Page is much faster and more unpredictable.
Geoff Neal x Carlos Prates
Better guess: Prates wins
Analysis: After his defeat to Ian Garry, Prates will come in with more blood in his eyes than usual. And on normal, he’s already 100% lethal. The problem is that in front of him will be a war tank with as much knockout power as the Brazilian. I think it’s all going to be a grappling match and it will depend on who can be more lethal first. And from what we’ve seen of Prates, he’s that guy.
Lerone Murphy vs Aaron Pico
Bet: Murphy wins
Analysis: Even without a full camp, Murphy had enough to beat Pico. People say this guy is a beast outside the UFC, but look at who he’s fought, there’s not one who’s UFC level. Murphy is a pragmatic guy, he’s not exciting, but he’s got good boxing, he knows how to score in the rounds and he’s already got a lot of experience inside the biggest MMA event in the world.
Dricus Du Plessis x Khamzat Chimaev
Bet: Du Plessis wins
Analysis: At this point, you can no longer doubt Dricus. The guy fights awkwardly, but has put in some impressive performances. He needs to survive the first round. If he can do that, he’ll be halfway to a victory. Chimaev will go all out, trying to get the fight to the ground as soon as possible. But what about his gas if the fight goes the distance? I think the belt stays with the South African.
