UFC Fight Night Vegas 105: Emmett vs Murphy

Vanessa Demopoulos x Talita Alencar

Bet: Alencar wins

Analysis: Demopoulos is very agile, but has a very weak takedown defense. If Talita gets a takedown and takes the fight to the ground, Vanessa will be in trouble. On the feet, it’s a more even contest, with perhaps a slight advantage for Demopoulos, because Alencar’s boxing is the bare minimum, she only does enough to get close and take the fight to the ground. I see the Brazilian with a better chance of victory.

Victor Henry vs. Pedro Falcão

Bet: Falcao wins

Analysis: Let’s look at MMA math: Henry lost by submission in the last round to Charles Jourdain, a striker. Pedro is a jiu-jitsu beast and in his UFC debut, even with very few days, he gave his opponent a hard time, imagine now with a full camp? The age factor favors the Brazilian, who is 32 while Henry is 37.

Loma Lookboonme x Istela Nunes

Bet: Lookboonme wins

Analysis: Istela Nunes has lost all four of her UFC fights and has been out of action for over a year. She returns now against an athlete who is in a great phase, is very strong and has plenty of gas. The Brazilian will have a height advantage, but nothing more than that.

Rhys McKee vs Daniel Frunza

Bet: Frunza wins (Low confidence)

Analysis: Daniel’s UFC debut, after a win in last year’s Contender Series. He’s a knockout artist with heavy ground and pound. McKee is coming off two decision losses, but he’s been knocked out before in his career and because he’s very tall and long, he can make Frunza’s takedowns easier. And once the fight goes to the ground… Frunza tends to dominate.

Diana Belbita x Dione Barbosa

Bet: Barbosa wins

Analysis: The Brazilian is better than Diana in all areas. And Belbita, who is 2-5 in the UFC, has been finished five times, just in the area that is Dione’s forte. There are all the ingredients for Barbosa to put on a show and knock Diana out of the event.

Davey Grant vs Daniel Santos

Bet: Grant wins

Analysis: The Briton is 39 years old, but from what he showed in his last fight in December, he still has plenty of gas left. And since Daniel Santos has that “Chute boxing” style, he’s going to have problems facing a tougher guy like Davey. The Brazilian has also been out of action for over a year…

Ode’ Osbourne x Luis Gurule

Bet: Gurule wins

Analysis: Although it’s Luis’ UFC debut, the undefeated athlete has more weapons to sell the veteran Ode. Osbourne has already been knocked out and finished inside the UFC and Gurule has the power to win in either of those two areas. Even if Osbourne wants to invest in wrestling, Luis, in his Contender fight, showed that he has good defenses and can even invest in that style if necessary.

Torrez Finney vs Robert Valentin

Bet: Finney wins

Analysis: Valentin is a good wrestler, but he will have a VERY difficult time in this fight. Finney is an extremely powerful wrestler, like a bull. He comes up and looks for the takedown, and most of the time he gets it. And on the ground, his ground and pound is devastating. I don’t think Robert’s takedown defense will be enough. The Swiss will have a good height advantage. Since Finney’s game is predictable, maybe if he manages to land a knee or an elbow with the right timing… but it’s very unlikely.

Brad Tavares vs Gerald Meerschaert

Bet: Meerschaert wins

Analysis: Tavares is a low-volume, slow fighter. In his fight against Weidman, who appeared to have only one leg, he still went to decision. Gerald is no master, but he’s aggressive and looks for takedowns. And if he takes the kick to the ground, it’s always very dangerous. Although Tavares has never been finished, there’s always a first time for everything. If it doesn’t happen, I think Gerald can at least control it for three rounds.

Kennedy Nzechukwu vs Martin Buday

Bet: Nzechukwu wins

Analysis: Kennedy has found himself in the Heavyweights and has been putting in good performances. Now he has a chance of getting another knockout. Buday is a very limited fighter, even though he’s only 32, he doesn’t look like he’s going to develop much. The Nigerian has every chance in the world of winning.

Cortavious Romious x ChangHo Lee

Bet: Romious wins

Analysis: Cortavious will have a height disadvantage, but I see him with more weapons to beat the Korean. ChangHo was facing weak competition on the Road To UFC. Both are wrestlers so it will depend a lot on who imposes their game first.

Pat Sabatini x Joanderson Brito

Bet: Brito wins

Analysis: I predict a knockout in the first round. Sabatini has a suspect chin and Joanderson has two bombs instead of hands. If he gets it, it’s a hug for Pat. Against the Brazilian, Sabatini has the chance to get a few takedowns and tire him out. Joanderson will have to control the distance well and build up to the knockout. But in the end, I think the Brazilian is much more lethal than the American.

Josh Emmett vs Lerone Murphy

Bet: Murphy wins

Analysis: Two hard shells going head-to-head. Then I’m forced to trust the younger man. Emmett is already 40 and hasn’t fought for over a year. Murphy is undefeated and very strong. This fight should take place almost entirely on the feet and I think the Brit will hit harder and have more stamina.
