UFC Fight Night Vegas 99 predictions: Hernandez vs. Pereira
em 17/10 - Atualizado há 5 mesesThis week’s event will feature four Brazilian bouts and Michel Pereira’s first main event. Check out our analysis and predictions for UFC Fight Night Vegas 99.

Robelis Despaigne x Austen Lane
Bet: Despaigne wins
Analysis: The Cuban Missile will be back in the win column… it’s just a matter of the fight standing up! Lane is a wrestler who tires very quickly. Maybe he’ll be a nuisance in the first round, but then the Cuban picks it up in the second. But the normal thing is for Despaigne to be knocked out in Round 1.
Alice Ardelean x Melissa Martinez
Bet: Ardelean wins
Analysis: Ardelean made her UFC debut by taking a fight at short notice and ALMOST beat Shauna Bannon. He showed he’s for real. Now with a full camp, she will face an athlete who has been out of action for almost two years. Martinez will try to keep her game on the feet, but Ardelean’s pressure will bother her. The way forward is to take the fight to the cage until she gets a few takedowns to make victory clear in the judges’ eyes, if necessary.
Jessica Penne x Elise Reed
Bet: NO PALPITES
Analysis: Penne is 41 years old and Reed ALWAYS loses by being finished or knocked out… neither of them inspires confidence.
Joselyne Edwards x Tamires Vidal
Bet: Edwards wins
Analysis: Both are coming off defeats, but Edwards is better both on the feet and on the ground. Vidal has a lot of trouble when she’s taken down, so that could be the way to go. Edwards isn’t in such a hurry to finish fights, while Tamires only invests in blows that can take your head off. Except she sends a card before throwing the blow. If Edwards goes in connected and gets more volume, it’ll be an easy win. It’s worth remembering that whoever loses here will probably go away.
Brad Katona x Jean Matsumoto
Bet: Matsumoto wins
Analysis: The Brazilian is more complete, but he’ll have to be careful with falls, and if he does, try to get up as quickly as possible. In his last fight, which was against a fighter with a similar style, it worked. Matsumoto got knocked down a few times, but was able to get up afterwards. The game here will be similar. Katona is very tough! I think it’s hard for Jean to catch him with a knockout or submission. Just keep up the volume, hurt, keep the distance and the Brazilian will have a good chance of winning.
Matheus Nicolau vs Asu Almabayev
Bet: Almabayev wins
Analysis: Nicolau no longer has a chin. With the right blows there, his body gives out. However, Almabayev is not a born knockout artist, he prefers grappling. And going to the ground with Matheus could complicate things. Still, if Almabayev manages to stand, take down and control, he’ll do well. Nicolau is coming off two knockout losses, while Almabayev is on a sixteen-fight winning streak.
Darren Elkins vs Daniel Pineda
Bet: Elkins wins
Low confidence
Analysis: Elkins, despite being 40, has better gas than Pineda. Daniel will come flying in the first round trying to finish the fight. When he can’t, which is likely, he’ll cool off. And then Elkins can grow into the fight. Darren has a height and wingspan advantage too.
Cameron Smotherman vs Jake Hadley
Bet: Hadley wins
Analysis: Smotherman accepted the fight with less than a week to go! Hadley was prepared for another opponent, but I believe he has a good chance of winning. Smotherman has a very aggressive style, but if the fight goes the distance, he doesn’t have much gas. Hadley is a bit more controlled, has a balanced game on the feet and on the ground. Smotherman took this fight to sign with the UFC, but if he wins it will be a big surprise.
Sumudaerji vs. Charles Johnson
Bet: Johnson wins
Analysis: There’s no way to bet against Johnson in the sequence he’s putting together. Sumudaerji has six losses and all by submission! Charles prefers to fight on the feet, but if he takes the fight to the ground, he’ll have enough weapons to defeat the Chinese, especially considering that this is his weak point. Sometimes Johnson starts a little slow, but as the minutes go by he finds his rhythm.
Rob Font x Kyle Phillips
Bet: Phillips win
Analysis: Font is 37 years old. Of his last five fights, he has lost four. Okay, they were to fighters who are at the top of the rankings, but now he’s going to face an athlete who is in a better phase and is more complete. Font has very good boxing and will prefer to fight on his feet. Phillips is also a striker, but if he takes the fight to the ground, he’ll have the advantage. I think the age factor will be important, as Kyle is eight years younger.
Michel Pereira vs Anthony Hernandez
Bet: Pereira wins
Analysis: Both athletes are coming off incredible winning streaks, but Michel has found himself in the category and has been putting on a show with knockouts and quick finishes! Hernandez likes to tie up the fight and slow down his opponent’s momentum. The Brazilian can’t fall for that! He has to keep up his aggressive game, but control his gas if the fight goes the distance. Hernandez was already knocked out in 30 seconds by Kevin Holland in 2020! So it’s possible! If the fight goes to the ground with Hernandez on top, Michel has the credentials to be able to defend himself and get up.
