➡️ Analysis and Predictions UFC Fight Night Vegas 99: Hernandez vs Pereira

Robelis Despaigne x Austen Lane
Bet: Despaigne wins
Result: Lane wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
Another disappointing performance from the Cuban! He falls and simply doesn’t know what to do. In fact, only once did he manage to get up. The other times he was taken down with ease, he had absolutely no chance of getting up. Lane also tired a lot from the second round onwards, but as soon as he got the takedowns, the round was over. Despaigne’s hype has certainly been reset now. And for Lane, the win was a breath of fresh air and a chance to renew with the organization.
Alice Ardelean x Melissa Martinez
Bet: Ardelean wins
Result: Martinez wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
Martinez returned to the UFC with a game of a lot of movement and counter-attacking. It worked perfectly. Ardelean was practically chasing her opponent the whole time. She couldn’t land any good shots and was getting the better of the counter attacks. As much as I didn’t like Melissa’s “dancing” style, she clearly won.
Jessica Penne x Elise Reed
Bet: No Bets
Result: Reed wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
The fight started very boring, but got better with time. Reed gave the forty-year-old a lesson. He landed great blows, especially in rounds 2 and 3. Penne tired a lot and was hit a lot. In the third round, Reed landed three times as many punches. A very comfortable victory.
Joselyne Edwards x Tamires Vidal
Bet: Edwards wins
Result: Edwards wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
Tamires was very slow (as usual) and only had one blow, which she didn’t land with full force. Edwards was better on the feet, and could still get a takedown when she wanted to. In the third round, victory was already in Edwards’ hands, but after taking Vidal down, she was almost finished! Luckily for her, she managed to escape and even landed a rear naked choke on Tamires, who couldn’t hold on. Edwards was much stronger, but it’s worth remembering that she missed weight again… for Tamires, it was her last fight on her contract and I think it’s very difficult for the UFC to renew it.
Brad Katona x Jean Matsumoto
Bet: Matsumoto wins
Result: Matsumoto wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
A great fight! Matsumoto was faster and landed good shots in every round. Katona even got a little dizzy in the first round, but resisted. It all came down to boxing, as Jean couldn’t get his opponent down. In the third, Katona just tried to stop the fight, but couldn’t manage anything more than that. A clear victory for the Brazilian, who maintains his unbeaten record!
Matheus Nicolau vs Asu Almabayev
Bet: Almabayev wins
Result: Almabayev wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
Nicolau gave the first round to Asu. It was a round of a lot of study, but the Kazakh was trying to look for the fight, he showed more aggression. Matheus improved in the second round and even attempted a finish. With the fight 1×1, the third round was decisive. At the start, Almabayev hit the Brazilian, who took the knockdown and didn’t go away: Asu controlled very well, for more than three minutes. When Matheus got up, the fight was already in the final stretch. Almabayev extends his winning streak to 17 in a row! For Nicolau, you can’t say he hasn’t improved, especially compared to his performance in his last two fights. There’s still time for improvement.
Darren Elkins vs Daniel Pineda
Bet: Elkins wins (Low confidence)
Result: Elkins wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
I didn’t see Elkins winning… for me, Pineda won rounds 1 and 2. In the first, he had two shot attempts. In the second, they were both very tired, but I saw more precision from Pineda. It was a difficult round to score. The third was clear for Elkins, as Pineda was very tired. A 40-year-old and a 39-year-old managed to deliver a good fight, which earned them both the bonus.
Cameron Smotherman vs Jake Hadley
Bet: Hadley wins
Result: Smotherman wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
Despite having accepted the fight three days in advance, Smotherman put on a show with very well aligned and effective boxing. Hadley simply couldn’t return Cameron’s blows. Perhaps the game was to take the fight to the ground, but Hadley only managed a takedown at the end of round two, and to make matters worse, it was the round in which he lost a point, after being poked in the eye. The last five minutes were another demonstration of Smotherman’s boxing. A quiet and impressive victory, given the conditions!
Sumudaerji vs. Charles Johnson
Bet: Johnson wins
Result: Johnson wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
Johnson always starts slower, so the first round went to the Chinese, who had the superior striking. Charles tried his hand at grappling, but it didn’t work. Then Johnson grew into the fight and almost scored a knockout! Although, when the fight went to the ground, he was almost finished by Sumudaerji. Even so, round 2 was Charles’. The third was difficult to score. I saw the Chinese fighter better on the feet, but Johnson took his opponent down. In the end, Johnson won by judges’ decision! I was happy, but I didn’t see him winning…
Rob Font x Kyle Phillips
Bet: Phillips wins
Result: Font wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
Seeing what Kyle did in the first round, it looked like his victory would be easy! He got the takedown with ease and controlled the rest of the round. The problem? Phillips tired a lot and in the last two rounds, it was Font’s turn to go hunting. Rob was much better in the clinch while Phillips only got worse. It was surprising, but a clear victory for Rob Font!
Michel Pereira vs Anthony Hernandez
Bet: Pereira wins
Result: Hernandez wins by UNANIMOUS DECISION
At the start of the fight, Pereira went all out, it looked like it was going to be a magical night with a knockout in the first round! But it didn’t happen… and from the second round on, Pereira was completely tired. He was dominated on the feet and knocked down more easily with every attempt Hernandez made. The fight went on for quite a while. The Brazilian was only knocked out in the fifth round, but the victory was already clear for Anthony Hernandez. Michel took a real beating!
