UFC Macau predictions: Yan vs. Figueiredo
em 22/11 - Atualizado há 24 diasThe UFC Macau marks the return of former bantamweight champion Petr Yan against former flyweight belt holder Deiveson Figueiredo, in a clash that could define the future of both in the organization. Check out our full analysis and predictions.
Maheshate Hayisaer x Nikolas Motta
Bet: Motta wins
Analysis: The Brazilian has a LOT of knockout power, although for this fight he comes with a height difference that could hinder him. Maheshate prefers to fight standing, just like Nikolas, but when it comes to pure exchanges, I see the Brazilian with a better chance of winning, including a knockout.
Xiao Long x Quang Le
Bet: Long wins
Analysis: Despite being younger, Long has much more experience than Le. He hasn’t fought very tough guys, but he knows his way around more than his opponent. I see Xiao going for the clinch, getting a takedown and managing to control Le. The fight should go the distance and in the judges’ decision, Long has a better chance.
Lone’er Kavanagh vs Jose Ochoa
Bet: Kavanagh wins
Analysis: Kavanagh is a complete fighter who comes with enormous hype after his knockout in this year’s Contender Series. His boxing is very well aligned and dangerous at all times. Ochoa comes from Chute Boxe and was fighting in the LFA until this opportunity arose. It seems to me that Jose was “thrown in” to be sacrificed for the sake of Lone’er’s rise… I wouldn’t doubt a knockout.
Nyamjargal Tumendemberel vs Carlos Hernandez
Bet: Tumendemberel wins
Analysis: The undefeated Mongolian athlete (8-0) is dangerous in all areas and will want to make a name for himself within the UFC in this fight. He wasn’t in the big events, but he’ll have an opponent who is 1-3 in his last four UFC fights, has terrible takedown defense and has been knocked out and finished before. Unless Hernandez comes in on a bright day, I think it’s very difficult for him to present anything that will hinder Nyamjargal’s debut.
Shi Ming x Feng Xiaocan
Bet: Xiaocan wins
Analysis: Strawweight final of the Road to UFC 2024 Tournament. Even at just 22, Feng is almost twenty centimeters taller than Shi! And since Xiaocan’s game involves wrestling and a lot of takedowns, she will have an advantage in imposing her game against Ming. There’s a good chance it will go to a judges’ decision. They both have good fighting experience, even if they were fighting in small events before.
Kiru Singh Sahota vs Donghun Choi
Bet: Sahota wins
Analysis: Final of the Featherweight category of the Road to UFC 2024 Tournament. Sahota is taller and longer and trains with Top Team in Manchester. Choi is a good fighter and has the gas for the three rounds, but for this fight, the difference in height will make a difference, especially as the two have similar fighting styles.
Baergeng Jieleyisi x Suyoung Yu
Bet: Yu wins
Analysis: Bantamweight final of the Road to UFC 2024 tournament. Korean Yu will have a height and wingspan disadvantage. Fortunately, he has a good standing game and a jiu-jitsu that could cause problems for the Chinese, who has already been finished twice. Jieleyisi has more experience, but he was fighting in the far reaches of China. It could be an even fight, where I think Suyoung has more weapons.
Zhang Mingyang vs Ozzy Diaz
Bet: Mingyang wins
Analysis: It should be an exciting and fast-paced fight! Both fighters like to throw down and spare no time. And in this pure exchange, Zhang has more knockout power than Dias. By the second round at the latest, we’ll have a winner for this fight.
Volkan Oezdemir vs Carlos Ulberg
Bet: Ulberg wins
Analysis: It’s hard to predict this fight. Both are giants and have a lot of strength. Oezdemir has more experience, but he’s also been knocked out and finished twice each. Ulberg has only had one defeat and it’s been a while. He’s currently on a great run and has shown knockout power and gas should the fight be extended. Given the better momentum, my guess is for Carlos to win.
Wang Cong x Gabriella Fernandes
Bet: Cong wins
Analysis: The ‘Chinese Joker’ is VERY different and complete. She’s coming to put on a show and has already made that clear. Fernandes is a good fighter, but she hasn’t found herself in the UFC. She’s coming off a split decision win and two losses, and in those three fights she faced very average athletes. It looks like the Chinese fighter is in for a treat. Fernandes has never been knocked out, but everything has a first time in life…
Song Kenan x Muslim Salikhov
Bet: Kenan wins
Analysis: Salikhov is an efficient Muay Thai fighter. However, at the age of 40, it has become clear that he is already slowing down. Kenan is no great fighter, but he has good boxing and that should be enough to snatch a win here. I think a knockout is difficult, but the longer the fight goes on, the greater the chance of victory for the Chinese fighter.
Yan Xiaonan x Tabatha Ricci
Bet: Ricci wins
Analysis: Probably Baby Shark’s most important fight as she faces the #2 ranked fighter. If she wins, she’ll be very close to competing for the belt in 2025. Yan is a tough out, a very good fighter on her feet, but has trouble stopping takedowns. Ricci is getting better at boxing, but her specialties are wrestling and jiu-jitsu. If the Brazilian can get a takedown, she’ll be halfway to victory. There’s the question of size, with Tabatha too small for this category. Even so, she’s in a better phase and the Chinese woman, at 35, might be starting to turn into a gatekeeper.
Petr Yan x Deiveson Figueiredo
Bet: Yan wins
Analysis: There’s a good chance we’ll have twenty-five minutes of an even fight both on the ground and on the feet. Yan is a little taller and younger. If the fight goes the distance, I see the Russian doing better in the last few rounds. Figueiredo is tough and does have a chance of winning, but at 36 and against a thick-skinned Russian, he could be in trouble.
