UFC Mexico predictions: Moreno vs. Erceg
em 26/03 - Atualizado há 1 mêsThe UFC Mexico will take place on June 10, 2023, with the highlight being the main fight between Brandon Moreno and Steve Erceg. Check out our analysis and predictions.

Marquel Mederos vs Austin Hubbard
Bet: Mederos wins
Analysis: Mederos made his UFC debut in February 2024 with a dominant performance, showing a lot of personality. I don’t know why it’s taken him so long to return, but he’ll have a good opportunity for another consistent performance. Hubbard isn’t one of the worst fighters, but he doesn’t appear to be at UFC level. Austin has never been knocked out and I don’t think this will be the first time. Still, Marquel’s speed and youth should make the difference.
Jamal Emmers x Gabriel Miranda
Bet: Miranda wins
Analysis: I think there’s a good chance this fight won’t go the distance. Either Emmers knocks him out, because he has a heavy hand, or if the fight goes to the ground, Miranda finishes. I trust the Brazilian more because he’s a jiu-jitsu specialist and Emmers doesn’t have one of the highest IQs in the fighting world.
Rafa Garcia x Vinc Pichel
Bet: Garcia wins
Analysis: Pichel at 42 doesn’t have that much risk to offer. Garcia is a guy used to long fights, and he’s only just turned 30. All he has to do is impose a bit more volume while being supported by the local crowd, and that will be enough. I don’t see this fight ending before the end of the third round.
Loopy Godinez x Julia Polastri
Bet: Godinez wins
Analysis: Julia has shown progress, but at a slow pace. Last time out she had to make the effort of her life to beat the weak Cory McKenna in a split decision. Godinez is coming off two defeats, but to girls in the top category. Loopy is very strong and if she comes in focused, she has everything to beat the Brazilian with ease.
Cristian Rodriguez vs. Melquizael Costa
Bet: Costa wins
Analysis: Rodríguez is a lion when he’s fighting a newcomer to the UFC. When he faces someone who’s been there for a while, he’s a cub. Melquizael is in a great phase, he’s been running his opponents ragged. The Brazilian is good on his feet and very dangerous on the ground. Cristian is a good fighter, but he’s not a guy who pulls a rabbit out of a hat when he’s in trouble. And for this fight, he’d need to do that.
Jose Medina vs. Ateba Gautier
Bet: Medina wins (Low confidence)
Analysis: We’ve seen this movie many times… Ateba is a knockout artist who destroys his opponents in the first round. All this, outside the UFC. Medina, on the one hand, has no offensive weapons, but in terms of defense, the Bolivian has an unusual resilience. If he survives Ateba’s explosion in the first round, he’ll have every chance of pulling off a giant upset.
Edgar Chairez vs. CJ Vergara
Bet: Chairez wins
Analysis: Chairez is a good fighter both on the feet and on the ground. And he’ll have the support of his fans. CJ Vergara, it seems, is missing something… he’s average in all areas. Unless Edgar comes in with a physical problem, I’m confident he’ll always be one step ahead of the American.
Ronaldo Rodriguez vs Kevin Borjas
Bet: Rodriguez wins
Analysis: Borjas has good boxing and… that’s it. Ronaldo will only lose this fight if he stays on his feet for too long, boxing only. If Rodríguez applies MMA, gets a few takedowns and takes advantage of Kevin’s weak defense, he’ll be fine. The Mexican is almost a lunatic when he fights. His pace will be too much for Borjas.
David Martinez x Saimon Oliveira
Bet: Martinez wins
Analysis: The Mexican is a child of the 2024 Contender Series, and will be making his UFC debut. He’ll only lose if he’s attacked by nerves. Saimon has been out of action for over two years, he must be out of fighting rhythm. I wouldn’t doubt a knockout from Martinez.
Raul Rosas Jr. vs Vince Morales
Bet: Rosas Jr. wins
Analysis: Just over a month ago, Morales fought a battle against Elijah Smith, in which he lost the decision. And now he returns to take another fight, in the shape of the 20-year-old Mexican, Raul Rosas Jr. From Raul we can expect a high level of wrestling. Locking on the guard, maybe taking him down and maybe trying to finish him. But Morales is not dead. If he had more time between this and his last fight, I’d trust him. But coming back now, with the intensity of the fight he had recently, there’s no way.
Kevin Gastelum vs Joe Pyfer
Bet: Pyfer wins
Analysis: If Kevin comes with the same will and physique he showed in his last fight, he’ll be destroyed. Even though he’s only 33, Gastelum’s time seems to have passed and even he knows it. He has no speed in the fight and even less knockout power. Pyfer is still evolving, but it’s clear that at least he has the will to win. Here he will also have an excellent height and wingspan advantage.
Manuel Torres vs Drew Dober
Bet: Torres wins
Analysis: This is going to be the fight to get the crowd going. Torres is a ‘Loco’ as soon as the fight starts. He throws his soul into every blow. I don’t know what his gas will be like in rounds 2 and 3 and, in fact, it won’t even be necessary: if he wins, it will be by knockout in the first round. If the fight goes ahead… then I’d say Dober’s chances will improve. However, the American is already 36 years old… it seems to me that they’ve handed Drew over as an offering to the fans.
Brandon Moreno vs Steve Erceg
Bet: Moreno wins
Analysis: Erceg seemed like a name to be feared, but… due to his performance in the last two fights, the hype has evaporated. And now he’s up against a very tough Mexican who’s very keen to make another run for the belt. Moreno will have the support of the fans, a distinctive boxing style and the fact that he’s used to five-round fights.
