Check out the predictions and analysis for all the fights on the card below. The predictions take into account the fighters’ current form, performance history and fighting styles.
Shauna Bannon vs. Sam Hughes
Bet: Hughes wins
Analysis: Bannon is a very average striker and doesn’t have good takedown defense. Hughes has infinite gas and will invest in wrestling. When she knocks the Irishwoman down, I don’t see her getting up very early.
Andreas Gustafsson vs Rinat Fakhretdinov
Bet: Fakhretdinov wins
Analysis: Gustafsson makes up for what he lacks in quality with aggression. It worked last time, but against Rinat, if he fights in the same way, he’ll be in trouble. The Russian is on an eleven-fight winning streak, is very strong and knows how to win rounds.
Brad Tavares vs Robert Bryczek
Bet: Tavares wins
Analysis: Tavares, at 37, is already slowing down, but with his wrestling, he can trouble Bryczek. The Polish fighter was a knockout artist in Oktagon, but as soon as he arrived in the UFC he got a reality check. Tavares is already a veteran of the house and if he fights with a bit of intelligence, he won’t want to spend too much time exchanging on the feet.
Sam Patterson x Trey Waters
Bet: Patterson wins
Analysis: It could be an even fight. Patterson is a guy with a very dangerous round one, especially with finishes. Waters was lethal before the UFC, in his last few fights he showed stamina and gas, but he hasn’t fought athletes much above his level. Given the pace Sam set in the opening round, I think there’s a good chance he’ll find a finish or a knockout.
Rhys McKee x Axel Sola
Bet: Sola wins
Analysis: Sola’s UFC debut. And they gave him a very winnable fight. McKee is a long guy with knockout power, but with terrible takedown defense. Sola investing in takedowns will make his life a lot easier. All that remains to be seen is whether the debut fever will affect him.
Marcin Tybura vs Ante Delija
Bet: Tybura wins
Analysis: Two ogres who will go toe-to-toe. I think Tybura’s take-down-and-control game could work against Delija, who despite being 35, is only making his UFC debut now.
Oumar Sy x Brendson Ribeiro
Bet: Sy wins
Analysis: Sy is not very exciting, but he has a good fight IQ and knows how to win rounds. The Brazilian is very aggressive and has been improving, but he has no chin. And if he goes in crazy, which is what is going to happen, he tends to complicate things.
William Gomis x Robert Ruchała
Bet: Gomis wins
Analysis: Despite not being exciting, Gomis is a fighter who knows how to win fights. Long, with a good grid game and the volume to score in the rounds. Ruchala was with KSW and is making his UFC debut. I don’t think Robert has the tools to beat the Frenchman at home.
Patricio Pitbull x Losene Keita
Bet: Keita wins
Analysis: Pitbull will have to stop a monster knockout artist in Oktagon. Although it’s only Keita’s UFC debut, with his explosive style, I wouldn’t doubt him finding the 38-year-old Brazilian’s chin and finishing the fight. And if Patrício wins, I don’t think it will be in a very exciting way: he’s going to have to lock up and tire Losene out, and I don’t know if he can do that for three rounds.
Farés Ziam x Kauê Fernandes
Bet: Ziam wins
Analysis: Ziam is very good on the feet and on the ground, as well as having enviable gas. Ziam will be present in every round, looking to win. Kauê is a good fighter, but his takedown defense is a bit suspect. With Ziam’s fight IQ, I think he’ll do enough to beat the Brazilian. Fares will have a good height and wingspan advantage.
Modestas Bukauskas x Paul Craig
Bet: Bukauskas wins
Analysis: Bukauskas is coming off 3 straight wins, while Craig is coming off 3 losses and a No Contest. The Scotsman comes into his fights looking tired, he doesn’t seem as focused anymore, he just waits for an open mouth to fall into his guard. Modestas is no genius, but he’s much better on the feet than Craig, and is capable of finding a knockout.
Bolaji Oki vs Mason Jones
Bet: Oki wins
Analysis: Oki has very effective and aggressive wrestling. If he manages to impose his game he has every chance of beating the good fighter Mason Jones. It’s an even fight, with better opportunities to make money at this event.
Benoît Saint Denis x Mauricio Ruffy
Bet: Ruffy wins
Analysis: I thought Benoit wouldn’t even have the courage to accept this fight. Saint-Denis is a good fighter, he likes sparring. However, everything he does, Ruffy does better. It tends to be a fantastic fight, but I don’t see the Frenchman winning. It won’t go to a judges’ decision at all.
Nassourdine Imavov x Caio Borralho
Bet: Borralho wins
Analysis: We’re going for a Fighting Nerds double. But with one caveat… Borralho was the reserve for the fight between Chimaev and Du Plessis, meaning he had to cut weight twice in a period of less than 40 days. How will his body be for this fight? That’s the only question. But if Borralho recovers well, he has the intelligence, gas and tools to beat Imavov. But it won’t be an easy fight. The Frenchman has developed a lot and is showing a very consistent game in any area. Borralho can’t afford to give up in front of him.
