UFC Paris predictions: Moicano vs. Saint-Denis
em 26/09 - Atualizado há 1 mêsAfter a hiatus since UFC 306, the Ultimate returns with an event that promises to be a lot of fun. Check out our analysis and predictions for UFC Paris, which will feature four Brazilians.

Bolaji Oki vs Chris Duncan
Bet: Oki wins
Analysis: Two athletes with an aggressive style, but I see a lot of flaws in Duncan when it comes to the full exchange. And if anyone is going to go down first, I’d say it’s him. They’re both the same height and Oki has a slight wingspan advantage. There are chances of a knockout.
Nora Cornolle x Jacqueline Cavalcanti
🚨 Low confidence
Bet: Cavalcanti wins
Analysis: They met three years ago and the Brazilian/Portuguese won by unanimous decision. The two have come a long way and Cornolle may have blood in her eyes and be fighting at home, but given Cavalcanti’s recent performances, she has more weapons to win. Most likely by judges’ decision. Cavalcanti has a good height and wingspan advantage.
Daniel Barez vs. Victor Altamirano
🚨 Low confidence
Bet: Altamirano’s win
Analysis: It should be an even fight, but if Altamirano avoids too many standing blows and gets some clear takedowns, he could have a good advantage. The Mexican is a little younger and has a slight height and wingspan advantage. Barez hasn’t fought in over a year and is coming off a quick loss to Jafel Filho. Altamirano is coming off two losses, although in his last fight, I scored a win for him over Brazilian Lipe Detona. High chances of this fight going the distance.
Ailin Pérez vs Darya Zheleznyakova
Bet: Pérez wins
Analysis: The Argentine has very solid wrestling and gets good takedowns whenever possible. The Russian prefers to fight standing and has a very questionable takedown defense. Unless she has focused on this over the last six months and is on a perfect day, I don’t think she will be able to counter Pérez’s game.
Taylor Lapillus vs Vince Morales
Bet: Lapillus wins
Analysis: It’s one of those fights designed to make the home crowd happy. Lapillus is a good fighter, used to winning fights that go the distance, with ten decision wins. He has good control over his opponents in a normal environment. Morales, on the other hand, is a more aggressive fighter, but he’s just making his UFC debut and he’s already facing this challenge. If he can’t finish the fight quickly, he’ll be in trouble. I trust Lapillus’ “ugly” game and gas more.
L’udovit Klein x Roosevelt Roberts
Bet: Klein wins
Analysis: Poor Roberts took yet another fight on top and again against a fighter who was too blurry. Roberts, because of his height, has trouble defending takedowns. Klein is dangerous both on the feet and on the ground, and has a good fight IQ. I believe Klein will close Roberts’ coffin early. If he goes to the second round, he’ll have lasted too long.
Oumar Sy x Da Woon Jung
Bet: Sy wins
Analysis: Both athletes have similar height and wingspan. The Korean is coming off three defeats, one each way (finished, decision and knocked out in the first round). The Frenchman has won his last three fights in the first round, but he’s fought three rounds before, so gas shouldn’t be a problem. In principle, it should be an easy win for Sy.
Ion Cutelaba x Ivan Erslan
🚨 Low confidence
Bet: Cutelaba wins
Analysis: Erslan comes from KSW and is a very dangerous knockout artist, especially in the first round. Cutelaba is a fickle fighter and has been knocked out before. It should be an initial round with a lot of exchanges and Erslan seems to know more ways to win. I doubt this fight will go all the way.
Fares Ziam x Matt Frevola
Bet: Ziam’s win
Analysis: Another blurry Frenchman. He’s taller, seven years younger and has good gas if the fight goes the distance. Frevola is quite dangerous in round 1, but Ziam has never been knocked out and will be hard to take to the ground. On the feet, Ziam will have more volume to win. But I don’t think he’ll be in a hurry. The knockout for the Frenchman will only come if Frevola attacks carelessly.
Morgan Charriere x Gabriel Miranda
Bet: Charriere wins
Analysis: The Brazilian is a jiu-jitsu beast, with sixteen finishes, but he’s been knocked out twice and doesn’t have a very flashy game on the feet. Charriere will prefer to fight standing, where he is more agile and has knockout power. What’s more, if the fight goes to the ground, the Frenchman has a good chance of defending himself and returning to the fight on his feet. It wouldn’t be good for him to get bogged down on the ground… I believe in a knockout for the Frenchman, in the first or second round.
Kevin Jousset x Bryan Battle
🚨 Low confidence
Bet: Battle win
Analysis: Difficult fight to predict! But given the progress Battle has shown in recent fights, he’s showing more guts and has more weapons. Jousset has two wins in the UFC, but against average fighters. The two athletes are similar in height, wingspan and age, nothing too dissimilar. I think it will go to a judges’ decision.
William Gomis x Joanderson Brito
Bet: Gomis wins
Analysis: The Shark will claim another victim. Gomis is a good fighter and has never been knocked out, but he’s very slow. He’s used to taking his fights to decision. And that’s where I think he’s going to get tricky, because Joanderson is always moving forward and has punches that can take your head off. Of course, all that initial power can take its toll on the gas, but even so, I have more faith in the Brazilian to win.
Nassourdine Imavov vs Brendan Allen
Bet: Allen wins
Analysis: If it were five rounds, my guess would be different. With only three, Allen’s aggressiveness could make the difference against Imavov’s more measured game. The two athletes are the same age, height and wingspan are similar. The Frenchman has never been knocked out, but I wouldn’t doubt a finish from the American in the first two rounds.
Renato Moicano vs. Benoit Saint-Denis
Bet: Saint-Denis wins
Analysis: Money Moicano is a jiu-jitsu and grappling beast. But so is Saint-Denis! And still standing, the Frenchman has very good knockout power, against the 35-year-old Brazilian’s questionable chin. Benoit is 28 and in his last fight he was on antibiotics, which is why his performance was so far below what he had shown before. Moicano, on the other hand, was practically knocked out by Turner in his last fight, but his opponent blundered, let the fight drag on and was finished in the following round. For the first three rounds, the chances of a knockout for the Frenchman are very good. If the fight goes on too long, then the match could go in the Brazilian’s favor.
