Check out the predictions and analysis for all the fights on the card below. The predictions take into account the fighters’ current form, performance history and fighting styles.
Luan Lacerda x Saimon Oliveira
Betting Lacerda’s victory(Low confidence)
Analysis: Probably, whoever loses will pass the HR. Saimon has 3 defeats. Lacerda has two, but he hasn’t fought in two years. Both are very good in jiu-jitsu and neither has been finished. Lacerda is 32, while Saimon is 34. Lacerda has a slight height advantage too. I’ll give him a vote of confidence. But I won’t bet a penny on this fight.
Julia Polastri x Karolina Kowalkiewicz
Bet: Kowalkiewicz wins
Analysis: I’ve already lost faith in Polastri. When I saw her on Contender, she looked like she had a future, but since she joined the UFC, she hasn’t been able to find herself. Little fight IQ, she goes into low gear. Even though the Polish fighter is coming off two defeats and is already 39 years old, she’s tougher and has a lot more experience than the Brazilian.
Valter Walker vs Mohammed Usman
Bet: Walker wins
Analysis: I think the UFC is sacrificing the bad Usman. Mohammed only has wrestling and it’s pretty dubious, not to mention that the guy is slow and tires a lot. Valter is in a great phase and finishing with a footlock quickly. I wouldn’t doubt him getting his fourth win in a row.
Lucas Rocha x Stewart Nicoll
Bet: Rocha wins
Analysis: Well-balanced fight. Two fighters with similar styles. Nicoll’s only defeat was by submission, to the average Jesus Aguilar. Lucas is good in all areas and has better ground game than Aguilar. I think the Brazilian has the weapons to beat Stewart.
Bia Mesquita x Irina Alekseeva
Better guess: Mesquita wins
Analysis: The Brazilian’s UFC debut and all eyes will be on her. If her nerves don’t get the better of her, she has the skills to beat “Ronda Russa”, who has already suffered two defeats in a row in the UFC, with increasingly poor performances and a very suspect gas.
Vitor Petrino vs Thomas Petersen
Better guess: Petrino wins
Analysis: All the Brazilian has to do is go in focused, trusting his hand, and he’ll have enough knockout power to obliterate Petersen. This American has been fluctuating a lot, and has already been knocked out twice. He’s a guy who likes a slow, slow fight. Petrino has to step on the gas. I think it’s going to be good.
Jafel Filho x Clayton Carpenter
Bet: Carpenter wins
Analysis: I like Jafel, but he’ll have a good battle ahead of him. Carpenter is good, he’s taken on some tough guys in the UFC, but in general, the kid is very skilled, both on the feet and on the ground. Jafel has a distinctive ground game, but when it comes to fighting on his feet, he’s got it.
Lucas Almeida vs Michael Aswell
Bet: Almeida wins
Analysis: This fight is very high on the card. Two fighters who haven’t done much. Almeida used to have a heavy hand, but in his last few fights he seems to be missing something. Aswell is only 25, he’s only just arrived in the UFC, but he hasn’t done anything that catches the eye either. Skill for skill, the Brazilian has a slight advantage.
Ricardo Ramos vs Kaan Ofli
Bet: Ofli wins
Analysis: Ofli is a very good jiu-jitsu guy, strong, but he gets complicated in stand-up. Ricardo Carcacinha seems to have blackouts during his fights. He has skills, but sometimes he gives away positions that have cost him a lot. And this time, I wouldn’t doubt him messing up again and giving Ofli the neck for the finish. If the Brazilian manages to keep the fight standing, he might find something. But I think it’s difficult.
Jhonata Diniz x Mario Pinto
Pinto’s win
Analysis: This Portuguese is very tough. He has knockout power and knows how to get to the ground if necessary. Diniz is very good at kickboxing, but he’s easy to take down. He was supposedly training his takedown defense, but I don’t know… This Mario is ready for bigger things.
Vicente Luque vs. Joel Álvarez
Bet: Álvarez wins
Analysis: Luque is currently fighting slowly, with a certain fear of getting hit. And this Spaniard is a monster. The guy has a lot of finishes and has shown knockout power in the standing game as well. Even if he doesn’t have a full camp (Luque would have another fight), he’s in a better phase than the Brazilian.
Deiveson Figueiredo x Montel Jackson
Bet: Jackson wins
Analysis: Deiveson seems to be feeling his 37 years. He doesn’t look like he’s enjoying himself, he’s taking a lot of beatings and he’s very slow. Jackson is flying. 6 wins in a row and a very heavy, very fast hand. It’s really hard for the Brazilian to find anything…
Charles Oliveira x Mateusz Gamrot
Better guess: Oliveira wins
Analysis: Last week we had Ramiz Brahimaj vs. Austin Vanderford. An excellent jiu-jitsu guy and a wrestler who only throws takedowns. So many takedowns that Ramiz caught his neck at one point. For this Charles fight, I see something similar happening. We already know what the Polish fighter is going to do, if Charles lets him, he’s going to throw takedowns for 25 minutes. But with each takedown, his neck will be caught… let’s give Charlinho a vote of confidence, even though he was brutally knocked out a few months ago…
