UFC Fight Night Vegas 104: Vettori vs. Dolidze 2

Yuneisy Duben x Carli Judice

Bet: Duben wins

Analysis: Two athletes with very little octagon experience. Duben (6-0), Judice (3-2). They will prefer to fight standing and the knockout power is in the Venezuelan’s favor, especially after what she showed in Contender last year. Judice has good boxing and volume, but her defense is poor and she takes a lot of blows in exchanges. In the American’s favor is her ability to fight every round. If the fight goes the distance, Yuneisy could be in trouble…

Josiane Nunes x Priscila Cachoeira

Bet: Cachoeira wins

Analysis: Whoever loses here will kiss the UFC goodbye. These are two athletes who, frankly, for this level, owe a lot. Nunes, with her 1.57 height, has a lot of problems getting close to her opponents, even though she has a heavy hand. Priscila is 1.70 and her biggest weakness is finishing. Luckily for her, Josiane has never finished anyone and I don’t think this will be the first time. If Cachoeira imposes volume and keeps her distance, she has everything to win. I’m not betting ONE PENNY on this fight!

Daniel Barez x André Lima

Bet: Lima wins

Analysis: The Brazilian is a complete athlete, with stand-up as his mainstay and a good takedown defense. Barez doesn’t stand out in any area and has big problems if the fight goes to the ground. Age also doesn’t favor Barez, who is already 36, compared to 26 for the Brazilian. André has more skill, is younger and his phase is better.

Stephanie Luciano x Sam Hughes

Bet: Luciano wins

Analysis: Something that strikes me about Stephanie is that she fights with joy. It’s clear that she likes to hit, much to the dismay of her opponents. She’s very fast and likes to impose volume. Sam Hughes is a basic fighter in everything… I don’t see much of a threat. Maybe she’ll try to take Luciano down, but in the clinch, it’s going to be very difficult for her.

Carlos Vera x Josias Musasa

Bet: Vera wins

Analysis: Musasa is the BIG FAVORITE for this fight, but I have to say that, in my opinion, he has a good chance of complicating things. Josias is known as the “Magician of Knockouts”, but right after the Contender, he won in a split decision, which means that if the fight goes the distance, he’ll be in trouble. Vera is 37 years old, but has never been knocked out and has jiu-jitsu as his specialty. If Carlos manages to survive the storm that will be the first round, he’ll have a good chance of putting something away in round 2 or 3, or even in a decision.

SuYoung Yu vs AJ Cunningham

Bet: Yu wins

Analysis: I don’t have full confidence in either of these two, however, the Korean athlete is on a three-fight winning streak, has good wrestling on his feet and can hold his own on the ground if necessary. He knows how to win fights on points. Cunningham will have a height advantage of ten centimeters, but I don’t see much more in his favor than that.

Waldo Cortes-Acosta vs Ryan Spann

Bet: Cortes-Acosta wins

Analysis: Spann will test himself in the heavyweight category. And he’s already on fire. Waldo is a good fighter, has a good boxing game and a good fight IQ: if he sees that the fight is complicated, he can change the game. In his last fight, he even turned wrestler to completely annihilate the Cuban Despaigne. Spann is a very unreliable guy, you can’t tell which version of him will enter the octagon. He has dangerous shots, but his chin isn’t as strong as it used to be. Given his form, I have more faith in Cortes-Acosta.

SeungWoo Choi vs Kevin Vallejos

Bet: Vallejos wins

Analysis: If you don’t know Vallejos, let me tell you that this Argentine lost a decision fight to Jean ‘Lord’ Silva in Contender 2023. Seeing what Jean has been doing to his opponents in the UFC, you can tell that the Argentinian has good stamina, don’t you? He also has a lot of knockout power, even if he was fighting in lesser-known events. He’s going to face a Korean who likes to hit. The problem is that every now and then he’s getting hit more than he’s hitting. And now, it seems, Choi will be knocked out again.

Diyar Nurgozhay vs Brendson Ribeiro

Bet: Nurgozhay wins

Analysis: Ribeiro has shown some progress, but at a very slow pace. His gas is still suspect and his chin even more so. In front of him is an athlete who can either knock his opponent out or drown him for fifteen minutes. I predict an ugly time for the Brazilian.

Da’Mon Blackshear x Cody Gibson

Bet: Gibson wins

Analysis: Gibson is coming off two wins, but against very dubious athletes. In addition, he has difficulties with ground fighting, which is Da’mon’s specialty. If the fight goes to the ground, Gibson will be in trouble! In fact, even on the feet, Blachshear has more weapons to win. In Da’mon’s favor there’s also the question of age: he’s 30 and Gibson is already 37.

Alexander Hernandez vs Kurt Holobaugh

Bet: Holobaugh wins

Analysis: This time, I’m on the side of the “older”. Holobaugh is 38 years old, but he’s an athlete who has the game to upset a lot of people in the division. He’s good on the feet, but if he can take the fight to the ground, he’ll be even more comfortable. He can finish or control for as long as necessary. Hernandez, on the other hand, even though he’s only 32, doesn’t seem to be evolving his game at all and is very limited. Unless Kurt doesn’t come in at 100%, I don’t see how he could lose.

Chidi Njokuani vs Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos

Bet: Dos Santos wins

Analysis: Njokuani is over 1.90 tall, which would be good if he didn’t have such a bad takedown defense. He doesn’t have much knockout power, winning his last few fights by decision. Elizeu likes sparring and has a lot of strength in both his hands and feet. If he comes in focused, manages to take the fight to the ground and gets his ass kicked, he has a great chance of winning. The best weapon for the Brazilian is to come out on top from the start, leaving no room for Njokuani to pace the fight.

Marvin Vettori vs Roman Dolidze

Bet: Dolidze wins

Analysis: What a shame to have a main event like this, but come on… Vettori has the physique of a war tank, but curiously, he hasn’t been able to finish or knock anyone out since 2020. The Italian hasn’t fought since 2023, for God knows what reason. Dolidze isn’t anyone’s cup of tea, but he has good boxing and a slower pace. With the fight having five rounds, I think he’ll be fuller in the final rounds than Vettori. The two have fought once before, with the Italian winning, but it was three rounds. Because he’s in fighting rhythm, I’m going to give Dolidze a vote of faith.
