Check out the predictions and analysis for all the fights on the card below. The predictions take into account the fighters’ current form, performance history and fighting styles.
Talita Alencar x Ariane Carnelossi
Better guess: Alencar wins
Analysis: Alencar has spectacular jiu-jitsu, but has a bit of trouble getting her opponents to the ground. In the standing fight, she has grit, but not much skill. Fortunately, Ariane has a very questionable takedown defense and hasn’t fought in over a year. I think that due to her pace and the danger of her ground game, Talita has a better chance. Now, if she can’t get the takedown, she could be in trouble.
Phil Rowe x Seokhyeon Ko
Bet: Ko wins
Analysis: Rowe is 1.90 m tall and has a wingspan of over two meters. The problem is that he starts the fight slowly, pragmatically. And since it’s only three rounds, if he loses two, it’s all over. Ko has been on a good run and his last performance, where he impressively beat the good fighter Oban Elliott, impressed me. Although he doesn’t have spectacular boxing, the Korean’s footwork is consistent. There’s just the matter of the almost 20-centimeter height difference.
Alice Ardelean x Montserrat Conejo Ruiz
Bet: Ardelean wins
Analysis: Ardelean is a case of a fighter who makes up for everything she lacks in skill. From what I’ve seen of her in the UFC, I can see her good endurance and the fact that she never gives up. Montserrat, in my opinion, isn’t UFC level and should have her last fight now. She’s too short for her category, easily taken down and on the ground, she’s very vulnerable to ground and pound.
Ketlen Vieira x Norma Dumont
Better guess: Dumont wins
Analysis: Although she doesn’t have knockout power or finishing ability, Norma has strength to spare and knows how to win rounds. She’s aggressive, has a good grid game and takedowns if necessary. Ketlen actually has a similar game, but when she can’t impose herself, she starts to cool down. Vieira also fights in a bureaucratic manner. Overall, I think Norma’s phase is better.
Donte Johnson vs Sedriques Dumas
Bet: Johnson wins
Analysis: Dumas accepted the fight a few days in advance. And he took it! Johnson has a 6-0 record, all victories by knockout in the first round. He got the contract by knocking out an opponent in the top category, which isn’t even his! Sedriques is a fighter, he doesn’t excel in any area, but he has more experience than Donte, who we don’t know how he’ll behave if the fight goes to the second round. Fortunately, I think it’s hard for Dumas to survive five minutes.
Timmy Cuamba x ChangHo Lee
Bet: Lee wins
Analysis: Cuamba is a good fighter, he has stamina, but his takedown defense doesn’t really appeal to me. And the Korean invests a lot in takedowns and the ground game, he knows how to control well. If Timmy keeps the fight on the feet, he might have a chance. But I don’t think he’ll be able to resist Chang’s game.
Billy Elekana x Kevin Christian
Better guess: Elekana wins
Analysis: I didn’t even remember Kevin anymore. He won the contract in last year’s Contender Series, but hasn’t fought so far. He’s taking on a guy who’s coming off a good win and has a good fight IQ. Kevin is good on the ground and has a good wingspan and height. Elekana is also very long and aggressive. I think the American has more weapons than the Brazilian.
Allan Nascimento vs Cody Durden
Betting: Nascimento wins
Analysis: Cody accepted the fight a few days in advance. He’s an experienced UFC fighter, but he’s very knockout and finishable. And he’ll be facing Allan Puro Osso, who is finding his rhythm and has been putting in some good performances. He’s good at standing up and jiu-jitsu, he’s an ace, not to mention being very tough. I think Durden is just coming to get his check in the octagon. I don’t think this fight will go the distance.
Charles Radtke x Daniel Frunza
Bet: Radtke wins
Analysis: Radtke is on a losing streak. His chin is suspect, but he’s dangerous on the offensive side. He’s a guy who likes bullying, putting pressure on his opponents. Frunza didn’t impress me in his last performance. I thought he was a bit slow, heavy. I don’t think his game can survive Radtke’s pressure.
Isaac Dulgarian x Yadier del Valle
Bet: Dulgarian win
Analysis: Isaac has spectacular chain wrestling. The first second he gets close to his opponent, he invests in the clinch game, and it has proved very effective. The Cuban is no fool. He’s good in all areas and so far, his takedown defense has been consistent. It’s just that he hasn’t faced anyone with Dulgarian’s style and skills. Now, if the Cuban tires the American out and stops the takedowns, then the game is totally up for grabs.
Jeremiah Wells x Themba Gorimbo
Bet: Gorimbo wins
Analysis: Even fight. Wells is 38 years old and his last few performances have been very dubious, and he wasn’t catching any stars. Gorimbo isn’t one of the most reliable guys, but he’s strong, he knows his way around the cage, stopping his opponents and he’s got the gas to last three rounds if necessary.
Waldo Cortes-Acosta x Ante Delija
Better guess: Delija wins
Analysis: Waldo is a boxer, who has a good fight IQ, but in defensive ground fighting, he’s not that good. Delija has already proven himself outside the UFC and made his UFC debut with a great win against a ranked fighter. Ante is in a hurry, because he’s already 35. I think he’s going to go up, depending on whether he takes Waldo down and that’s it. Now, if he’s too rash, Cortes-Acosta is very tricky… you can’t just go in there and approach him.
Steve Garcia x David Onama
Bet: Garcia wins
Analysis: A clash of two warriors. Garcia is a machine of destruction, especially in the first round. He has absurd knockout power and in his last performance he even showed that he has gas if his opponent shows resistance. Which is the case here. David Onama has never been knocked out and knows how to control distance well. He also has knockout power and knows how to counter-attack. Garcia is going to go for it from the first second, he’s going to have to be very careful with this approach. Even so, I think Steve will put on more volume and is more likely to knock David out. It’s sure to be a great fight.
