Guram Kutateladze x Kauê Fernandes
Bet: Kutateladze win
Analysis: Kauê is a good fighter and is dangerous especially in round 1. However, I trust Kutateladze’s toughness more, as he has already shown that he can take a lot of beating and if the fight goes the distance, he has more gas to stay ahead. The Brazilian will have to be very wary of the Georgian’s elbows.
Nathan Fletcher x Caolán Loughran
Bet: Fletcher wins
Analysis: I see the Englishman as more complete and with very dangerous jiu-jitsu. Loughran is a boring fighter: he takes it to the cage, locks it there and does nothing. If the referee lets him, he’ll spend twelve rounds doing the same thing. Weak boxing and on the ground, at least in the UFC, we haven’t seen anything exciting yet. What you can’t say about the Irishman is that he’s out of gas. Still, Nathan will be fighting at home and that should give him an extra boost.
Shauna Bannon x Puja Tomar
Bet: Bannon wins
Analysis: Although Shauna is LIMITED, doesn’t invest in ground fighting, and has average boxing on the feet, she tends to be better than the Indian Tomar. Puja is coming off a very questionable win. If Bannon manages to take the fight to the ground, stay on top and get the upper hand, she’ll have the advantage. The two on the ground are turtles, so if the Irishwoman can strike first she’ll benefit.
Christian Leroy Duncan vs Andrey Pulyaev
Bet: Duncan wins
Analysis: Pulyaev got his Contender contract by winning a decision against a very limited opponent… I don’t even remember his fight, which is never a good sign. On the other side, he will face a very good Englishman with knockout power who is coming off a defeat. Now fighting at home, CLD has everything he needs to put on a show. I wouldn’t doubt a knockout.
Marcin Tybura vs Mick Parkin
Bet: Parkin wins
Analysis: An undefeated knockout artist fighting at home, against a guy who has been knocked out five times, how am I going to play against him? Every moment the fight is on the feet, Parkin will be two steps ahead. The only danger I see is if Tybura manages to take the fight to the ground early on. If that doesn’t happen, everything tends to go Mick’s way.
Lone’er Kavanagh x Felipe dos Santos
Bet: Kavanagh wins
Analysis: Boy, they don’t give Lipe Detona a run for his money, it’s quarry after quarry. Kavanagh is a very tricky fighter, fast and with knockout power. In principle, if the Brazilian invests in grappling and takes the fight to the ground, he may have a better chance. However, with the fight on the feet, I see Lone’er as superior. And I’ve seen the Brazilian get dizzy in previous fights. If Kavanagh smells a knockout, he’ll go for it.
Jai Herbert vs Chris Padilla
Bet: Padilla wins
Analysis: Padilla has lethal elbows for standing and ground fighting, he can find finishing positions very quickly. Herbert is already 36 years old, I don’t know if his chin is still up to date, I think he’s going to struggle. And looking at the Englishman’s last wins, they were against average fighters. In Jai’s favor, a good height and wingspan advantage. If he can keep the distance for the next fifteen minutes, he’ll have a chance, but I think it’s difficult.
Nathaniel Wood x Morgan Charriere
Bet: Charriere wins
Analysis: Fighting between England and France always has a little extra spice. This time, to the misfortune of the local public, Wood has a very difficult mission against Charriere. The Frenchman is very strong in all areas and has energy to spare if the fight goes the distance. Wood is not a bad fighter, far from it, but apart from the height disadvantage, I don’t think he has as dangerous weapons as Morgan.
Jordan Vucenic vs Chris Duncan
Bet: Vucenic wins
Analysis: Vucenic made his UFC debut at short notice and put up a good fight against Kutateladze, showing that he has the personality for this level of UFC. Jordan already has several wins by submission and if he can get him to the ground, I think it will make his life easier. Duncan is a good fighter but I think the pressure of his opponent will be too much for him. Vucenic has to keep an eye on the guillotine, he can’t just throw takedowns or he’ll be in trouble.
Molly McCann x Alexia Thainara
Bet: Thainara wins
Analysis: Molly would be facing another athlete who was prevented from fighting after problems with her passport. Alexia accepted the fight with a few days’ notice. And I think McCann’s life was easier before, but now it’s become more complicated. Thainara is very fast, doesn’t stop for a minute and has dangerous jiu-jitsu, which is precisely McCann’s weakest point, her ground defense. In the Englishwoman’s favor is the complete camping, but… I see Alexia with more chances to surprise.
Gunnar Nelson vs. Kevin Holland
Bet: Holland wins
(Low confidence)
Analysis: If the American comes in focused, not just thinking about the purse money, he has a good chance of winning. He has very good jiu-jitsu, and even though he’s on the bottom, he could find something against Nelson, who has been out of action for two years. Gunnar is coming off two wins, but against weak fighters. It will all depend on which version of Kevin enters the octagon.
Jan Blachowicz vs Carlos Ulberg
Bet: Ulberg wins
Analysis: At another time, I’d give the favoritism to Jan, but at 42… there’s no way. Ulberg is flying, always looking for the knockout and hits to hurt. Blachowicz would have to invest in takedowns and control for three rounds. And at his age, having been out of action for almost two years, I think that’s pretty unlikely. For Ulberg, it’s better to build up to the knockout, not to rush, so as not to get knocked down and complicate things. In the big picture, Carlos has a much better chance of winning.
Leon Edwards vs Sean Brady
Bet: Brady wins
Analysis: Edwards has problems with his takedown defense and on the feet, he’s been very slow. Perhaps the fact that it’s five rounds, something he’s used to, is his biggest weapon. I don’t know how Brady will behave over all these rounds, but at least in the first three, the American has a lot of advantage, even more so if he invests in the clinch and takedown game, to frustrate Leon, something that has happened several times in his fights.
